Options in ChessComment

You can change your personal parameters by clicking the button on the left side of the chessboard. Choose the tabsheet "Other".

Remove uncommented variations

ChessComment store as variations all your trials, even the useless ones. If the box is checked, the variations containing no comment, and not ending with a checkmate, will be removed before saving, sending or copying the notation. If the box is unchecked, you can remove them manually, by pressing the F9 key.

Display hints

A short text is displayed to help you at the beginning, when the mouse cursor is over a field or a button. Uncheck the box to suppress it.

Beep on error

After an invalid move, the programme will beep. You can suppress this noise by unchecking the box.

Backup folder

When you play by e-mail, the games sent or to be sent are stored in this folder. You can enter here a folder which is saved with your other documents, or which is copied to your laptop when you are travelling.

Parameters folder

In this folder are stored your identity and all parameters to send games. If you copy your games to another computer, you may want to avoid copy of these parameters which are usually specific to a computer.
